FAQ
What is a crochet doll body base?
A body base is a plain doll pattern with no fixed outfit or hairstyle. It gives you the head, body, arms and legs, and you add the face, hair and clothes yourself. Many designers sell or share clothing patterns that fit their own base, so one base can turn into many different dolls.
How do I make a crochet doll stand or pose?
Stuff the legs firmly and keep the feet flat and wide. For posable dolls, slide pipe cleaners or craft wire into the arms and legs before stuffing, and bend the tips over so they cannot poke out. Several bases on this list, like Arishka and Sally, are tall and slim, so firm stuffing really matters.
Can I sell dolls made from a free base pattern?
It depends on the designer. Many allow you to sell finished dolls if you credit them, but almost none let you share or sell the pattern itself. Always read the terms on the pattern page before you sell. When in doubt, send the designer a quick message and ask.
Pick a base, make it twice in two skin tones, and you are well on your way to your own doll family.
